What is the RMS ILC Cell Kit used for?

The RMS ILC Cell Kit is a research product containing iPSC-derived Islet-Like Clusters, supplied as cryopreserved single cells ready for use in laboratory applications. It is intended for researchers and pharmaceutical companies working in diabetes research, drug development, and toxicity screening who require a reliable, scalable, and human-relevant source of pancreatic cells.

The kit is designed to address the limitations of cadaver-derived islet cells, which are constrained by unpredictable donor availability, batch-to-batch variability, and high procurement costs. Because RMS’s ILCs are produced from human iPSC lines, they offer consistent cell quality, on-demand availability, and a scalable supply, making them better suited to the reproducible, high-throughput studies that drug discovery programs require.

Specific applications for the ILC Cell Kit include in vitro cell studies investigating pancreatic biology and diabetes mechanisms; drug candidate screening for efficacy and toxicity; and the development of human-relevant preclinical disease models for Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes. The cells express key beta cell markers including NKX6.1 and PDX1 and demonstrate functional insulin production.
